Taking a break & continue editing
Now that the first scene was recorded before moving on to the next scene I needed to go over the first scenes shots before starting the next. I asked everyone to take a 30 minute break as I do so. During this I used my storyboard template to look at every little detail, movement, and type of shot. While going through the videos I realized that all the video where shot clean and as written by the timing of it was almost 18 seconds. This was because there was a lot of starting and ending time throughout the clips so that could have been easily fixed by cutting them during my editing phase. After this I went to get something to eat and drink before performing the next scene. Now that it was time this next scene started off with the actress walking to the bathroom where the next scene occurred briefly. This was shot in a pan shot so you can see the distance and location from the actress room to the bathroom. Here we started with the actress at the bathroom sink grabbing her toothbrush out the tooth brush holder. This was recorded as a high angle of the actress head and arm movements to really empahsize what she is doing. That Turns into a close up shot of the actress then brushing her teeth. The next shot turns into another high angle shot of the actress rinsing her mouth out. The scene changes here when the actress returns back to her room. A establishing shot is used for the scene to show her walking back in her room as well as the whole room. Im myself am 5 feet and two inches so it wouldn't have been so much as a establishing shot at my angle. I grabbed a stool and stood on top of it in the hallway and recorded the whole area creating a establishing shot of her and the room. She than walks over to her dresser and opens a drawer. This was shot as a long shot. This was supposed to be a backside angle of her but I didn't think of this when I was drawing it out on my storyboard that her bed would be in the way. This was shot on the opposite side by her doorway so we were able to get the long shot of her body. The long shot continues as the actress gets her stocking and puts them on. The camera then turns as the actress walks towards her closet to grab a shirt. This is recorded as a mid shot. This shot continues as the actress pulls down her smiley face shirt. We didn't want to show anything to explicit but we wanted to make the film feel very real. The point was for the audience to really see every action and movement the actress took throughout her morning. Saying this for the scene of her getting dressed we just shot it as a mid shot of the actress turning around so you can only see her briefly putting the shirt on although you could see her bra strap. We talked about if this was appropriate any we didn't want any questions or confusion so as though in movies you may see things like women breast we didn't want that in our case. Overall this was a quick mid back shot of the actress putting on her shirt. Next the actress walks over towards her shoes and grabs a pair of sneakers. In my storyboard I drew her grabbing a pair of sandals we choose sneakers while shooting because she was wearing feet stocking that would work in sandals. This was a little change made during filming. This was shot as a high angle as well to again show the actress movements.
